Lincoln Climate Commission

The Lincoln Climate Commission is an independent organisation that brings people together from across the public, private and voluntary sectors to help drive, guide and support climate action.

What we do:

1) Communicate and promote a clear manifesto for tackling climate change:

  • Rapid transition to clean energy
  • Restoration of nature to increase soak up of carbon emissions
  • Improve energy efficiency and reduce overall demand
  • Transition to regenerative economy to reduce resource consumption, waste and pollution
  • Adaptation to an already changed climate

2) Encourage and facilitate community engagement in climate action

3) Lobby local and regional government for climate-positive policies and decision making

4) Provide a reliable source of information on climate change and climate action in Lincoln and Greater Lincolnshire

The Lincoln Climate Commission emerged from a collaboration with the City of Lincoln Council, Siemens, Transition Lincoln, the University of Lincoln and members of the public.  Since then the group has expanded to include the valuable input from a range of businesses, organisations and the community who wish to work together to make a positive choice on issues relating to energy, carbon, weather and climate.

The value of the Climate Commission is its ability to harness the collective energy, vision and ambition of key stakeholders across Lincoln and Lincolnshire to deliver a step-change in its response to the climate emergency.

The Commission's Lincoln Roadmap to achieve Zero carbon by 2030 is now live. The commission is planning a range of community consultation events to review the evidence outlined in the Zero Carbon Roadmap and to consider a range of actions we will need to deliver to achieve the zero carbon target.

We are a volunteer-led and run independent organisation.
